SWAN Teacher – Students with Additional Needs

ON CAMPUS IN ATHERTON QLD - 2026

We are seeking a dedicated teacher to support students with additional needs (SWAN), including disabilities, learning difficulties and trauma backgrounds. The SWAN Teacher will have a genuine passion for helping students reach their full potential through personalised learning adjustments and evidence-based strategies, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.

The SWAN Teacher will also provide support to teaching staff by working cooperatively and collaboratively on curriculum, assessment and environmental adjustments for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain IEPs and Education Support Plans (ESPs) for Out of Home Care students.

  • Support teaching staff in making adjustments to curriculum, learning programs, and reports.

  • Facilitate meetings with parents, carers, and other stakeholders.

  • Maintain SWAN record-keeping in line with NCCD guidelines.

  • Work with families and SWAN students to conduct assessments, including Level B Clinical Assessments, diagnostics, and screeners.

  • Liaise with Education Queensland Advisory Visiting Teachers for PI/VI/HI as required.

  • Assist in creating SWAN resources and participate in co-curricular activities as required.

Key Qualities:

  • Experience supporting students with additional needs, disabilities, or learning difficulties.

  • Strong understanding of child and adolescent development and contemporary teaching methods.

  • Ability to use a wide range of teaching strategies and monitor student progress.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and staff.

  • Willingness to participate in professional development and school life.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Teaching qualification from a recognised university or college, with special education experience or qualifications.

  • Minimum 2 years teaching experience, with experience in learning support.

  • Demonstrated ability to implement individual and consultation-based interventions.

DISTANCE EDUCATION TEACHER | Complex Learning Needs (Years 6-9)

12-month contract | Work from home | 2026 Start

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Distance Education Teacher to support students with complex learning needs in Years 6–9. This role is ideal for a teacher who values strong relationships, enjoys working collaboratively with families, and thrives in a flexible work-from-home setting.

What you’ll do

  • Teach, plan and assess the Australian Curriculum for students with complex learning needs (Years 6–9).

  • Work closely with families and conduct a range of assessments (incl. Level B Clinical Assessments, diagnostics and screeners).

  • Write and update IEPs and ESPs.

  • Maintain NCCD-aligned record-keeping.

  • Liaise with specialist services (EQ AVTs) and facilitate stakeholder meetings.

  • Work from your home office (or Atherton office if preferred/required).

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor of Education (with special education qualification or significant experience).

  • Current QCT registration.

  • Experience supporting students with additional needs (required).

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Understanding of the Australian Curriculum and contemporary assessment practices.

  • Experience in Distance Education (highly desirable).

Secondary Maths Teacher

ON CAMPUS IN ATHERTON

We seek an educator who can create an engaging learning environment in which students feel safe to take intellectual risks, feel comfortable to seek assistance and will be encouraged to perform to the best of their ability whilst developing a love of Mathematics.

This position is based on-campus in Atherton, Far North Qld.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Qld College of Teachers registration (or permission to teach)

  • Demonstrated competency teaching Mathematics in Secondary years

  • Ability to write unit plans, weekly work and assessments aligning with QCAA existing and emerging syllabuses.

  • Demonstrated high level communication skills with colleagues, parents and students.

  • Demonstrated high level competency in communication utilising online technologies and platforms.

  • Demonstrated organisational, time-management and record-keeping skills utilising existing tools and platforms.

  • Demonstrated experience working both independently and collaboratively.

  • Willingness to identify with and support the Christian ethos of the College.

Selection Critera

  1. Competency teaching Secondary Mathematics.

  2. High-level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to work with students, parents, teachers and staff from diverse backgrounds.

  3. Skills and/or experience working with students who have additional needs and/or gifted and talented students.

  4. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

The School Laboratory Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the effective delivery of science education. This position provides technical and administrative assistance to science teachers, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of school laboratories. The role involves preparing materials, setting up experiments, maintaining equipment, and adhering to safety protocols.
